11teams play in the BBL, 10 of which are located in England with Glasgow Rocks being the only Scottish team. Apart from the league, all clubs compete in two cup competitions called BBL Cup and BBL Trophy.

The League has limitations for foreign players (no more than 5 for a game), contracts with BBC Sport and YouTube, women’s league (WBBL) and two official awards: MVP and Coach of the year.

Curious fact is that the British league is an independent competition governed by the participating clubs. Each team is represented in the Board which is responsible for decisions concerning politics and regulations.
