UNICS Awarded Third-Place Medals In Russian Championship

UNICS Kazan received the third-place medals this season for the Russian championship, which is determined by the outcome of the VTB United League.

UNICS lost in the semifinals (3-1) to Khimki, finishing ahead of Zenit St. Petersburg in the final standings thanks to a second-place finish in the regular season (21-5).

UNICS players, coaches and managers received bronze medals from VTB United League president Sergey Kushchenko and Republic of Tatarstan premier minister Alexey Pesoshina on the floor of the Basket Hall.

“UNICS is a stalwart in our league,” noted Kushchenko. “Congratulations to the team on a successful season. UNICS not only improved its results, but also its marketing. The attendance at the Basket Hall grew, as did the team’s revenue.”

Sergey Kushchenko also presented UNICS president Evgeny Bogachev with a “Letter of Gratitude” for significant contributions to the 10-year history of the VTB United League.

“Without our sponsors, the support of the administration and president of the republic, we wouldn’t have achieved anything,” said Bogachev. “I want to remind you that Kazan is the sports capital of Russia. We’re going to keep going. We took a step forward, but we need to take two steps! The experience our coach has gained at UNICS and the team itself allow us to hope that the best is yet to come. We should win!”

Medals for the VTB United League, United Youth League and Russian championship are prepared by ZNAK. Sergei Nikolaevich Sokolov is the director of the company.
