VTB United Leauge continues On This Day special.

On April 23, 2011, the decisive games of the Final Four were played in Kazan, Khimki outplayed CSKA in the final – 66:64 – to become VTB United League champions.

During the game, Khimki were as far as 14 points ahead, but the Army club came back with 16-0 run. 2 seconds to the buzzer, CSKA forward Jamont Gordon sank a three-pointer to make it 64:65. After the Red-blues’ foul, Khimki’s Travis Hansen came to the line, made 1 of 2 and set the final score – 64:66 to bring the title.

Before the final game, Kazan’s Basket hall hosted 3rd place match where UNICS downed Azovmash 95:75.

Khimki’s guard Vitaly Fridzon was the Final Four MVP. In the final against CSKA he scored 11 points, and previously hit 27 against UNICS. Final Four best 5 – as voted by the media – was John Robert Holden (CSKA), Alexey Shved (CSKA), Kelly McCarty (UNICS), Kresimir Loncar (Khimki) and Demetrius Alexander (Azovmash).
