Five years ago on October 3, legendary basketball player and coach Sergey Alexandrovich Belov departed this life.
He made an enormous contribution to the development of Russian basketball. His name is on the championship trophy, awarded each season by the VTB United League.
An Olympic champion (1972), two-time European Champions Cup winner (1969, 1971), 11-time USSR champion (1969-74, 1976-1980) and frequent medalist and champion in international competition, Belov was named a torchbearer at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow.
His name is eternal. .
