Stefan Markovic Wins March MVP

Zenit guard Stefan Markovic has been named the VTB United League March MVP.

The League’s MVP of the Month award is decided on by the League and TASS information agency.

Markovic beat out CSKA guard Cory Higgins and Enisey forward Suleiman Braimoh for the award.

Markovic played in two games in March, helping Zenit to big wins over UNICS and Lokomotiv-Kuban. He led the team in assists and efficiency rating, averaging 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and a 21 efficiency rating.

– Markovic is a very good, talented player, – noted two-time World Championships runner-up Vitaly Nosov. – He’s often close to a triple-double, helps St. Petersburg score and he’s a big reason why Zenit is in 2nd place. Markovic makes our League more entertaining to watch. He’s a key player for Zenit and the engine behind the team. He can score, distribute and rebound. The regular season is almost over and Zenit is showing that it’s one of the favorites.

Other MVP winners have included UNICS’s Keith Langford in October, Lokomotiv’s Andrey Zubkov in December, Zenit’s Sergey Karasev in January and Khimki’s Alexey Shved in November and February.
