Evgeny Pashutin Takes Over At Avtodor

Evgeny Pashutin is the new head coach at Avtodor, reports the official club website. Former boss Andrea Mazzon left the team because of family circumstances.

The 48-year-old Russian coach has previous stops at CSKA (2009-10), Lokomotiv-Kuban (2012-14) and UNICS (2010-12 and 2014-17).

Evgeny Pashutin is the all-time League leader in games (187) and wins (128) as a head coach. He’s also the most decorated coach in the League. He won the League once with CSKA, finished as runner-up three times (twice with UNICS, once with Loko) and finished third once (with Loko).

At the first-ever All-Star Game held on February 11, 2017, Pashutin coached the Russian Stars, who earned a win over the World Stars, 131-121.

From 2013 to 2015, Pashutin coached the Russian national team.

He also played for Avtodor in the 1990’s, between 1992-94 and 1995-99.

Avtodor president Vladimir Rodionov:
– I’m very happy about the return of our product to Avtodor in a new role. We hope Evgeny will be able to help the team regain its confidence. I think he will help his hometown club reach its goals. In turn, we are grateful to Andrea Mazzon for the partnership and wish him success in his future career.

Avtodor head coach Evgeny Pashutin:
– I’d like to thank Vladimir Estafevich Rodionov for showing faith in me. For my part, I will try to do everything I can to improve Avtodor’s position in the standings. Specifically, we want to be in the VTB United League playoff zone and finish no worse than 6th. We plan to play modern, aggressive basketball. Of course, it won’t be easy, but we never look for the easy way out.
