After an electric performance in Moscow on Sunday, excitement was high in Perm for today’s afternoon tilt with Lokomotiv-Kuban. After falling behind by 16 at halftime, PARMA rallied in the 3rd quarter to make it a seven-point game entering the 4th.

But Krasnodar’s defense took over down the stretch, limiting the home team to 14 points in the quarter, including five turnovers in the final minutes.

Kuban hasn’t lost in nearly a month and the visitors led from the opening tip, outscoring PARMA 26-21 in the 1st quarter.

Codi Miller-McIntyre and Tre’ McLean helped PARMA close to within four, 38-34, late in the 2nd quarter with back-to-back triples, but the visitors responded with a 14-2 run to end the first half, opening up a 16-point lead.

Trailing by 20 early in the 3rd, PARMA went on a 12-0 run punctuated by a Codi Miller-McIntyre dunk to blow the game wide open again. Miller-McIntyre and Ivan Ukhov did most of the scoring for PARMA in the period, combining for 19 points to pull their team within seven entering the 4th, 66-59.

Turning Point
In search of a second big quarter, PARMA couldn’t find an answer down the stretch. Lokomotiv was methodical, scoring on a mix of layups and 3-pointers, while harrying the home team into eight turnovers, including five over the final 3:26.

That was more than enough to seal an 86-73 victory for the Railwaymen, who improve to 5-1. PARMA drops to 1-6.

45-13 – Lokomotiv’s bench outscored PARMA’s by 32. The depth paid dividends in the 4th quarter when PARMA’s leaders began to tire and made several uncharacteristic mistakes.

PARMA head coach Nikolajs Mazurs:
– We came up a little short in each episode. Sometimes it was execution, sometimes luck, sometimes energy. That decided the outcome of the game. Of course, we missed Gaines, who was out because of an injury.

Lokomotiv-Kuban head coach Sasa Obradovic:
– First of all, I think we deserved the win. We were better for most of the game. We created a lot of problems for our opponent today, but it’s never easy to play in Perm. Plus, our current physical condition and rhythm made it even tougher. Congratulations to our team!
